GuideStar Exchange

Greetings from GrantLessons, we have 46 followers and we have all gotten home safely from the Houston conference where we had a great time, made new friends and learned more on how to improve our work for our local communities through Assistance League activities.

We learned more about GuideStar Exchange and its importance to grant writing. In a nutshell, funders are looking at our documentation on GuideStar to learn more about our chapters before they make their funding decisions. The GuideStar Exchange advances transparency and accountability through a voluntary program of information sharing including such documents as IRS Letters of Determination; Annual Reports; Audited Financial Statements; Detailed Program Data; Current Board and Staff Names; Board and Staff Demographic Information; and Board Governance and Management Practices.

A new GuideStar Exchange Member obtains a username and password and then they are able to update their chapter’s GuideStar profile. Bunkie Righter, Director, Business Development, GuideStar USA provided an excellent breakout session at the Houston conference. Ms. Righter’s PowerPoint notes and handout can be obtained by going to the National Website and accessing her handouts. After logging into National Assistance League simply go to the conference tab where you will find the handouts tab and then you can find the presentation material located under Finance.

Lastly, if you were not able to attend the conference and want to hear the presentation made by Sandie Barrie and Pat Reinier check under the blogroll for a video titled, “Show Us the Money – A Practical Approach to Grant Writing”.

Catch me when you can and I will catch up with you soon. Sandie

  1. So nice to see you in Houston. Your session was absolutely A plus. I felt all attendees were smitten with Grant Writing.

    Stay in there. Karen

  2. Thank you for a great presentation. Although I was not able to attend the Houston conference, our Assistance League of Amador Valley, CA chapter has luckily joined GrantStation and we hope to use this invaluable tool to help our chapter funding grow with the resources and “tips and tricks” that you are providing.
