Greetings from GrantLessons!
How is your electricity? My home has had two outages this week. You really realize how much you use something when it goes away! The next video, “Completing the Impact Section on a GuideStar Record – Part 3” is complete. With videos 1,2 and 3, you will be able to complete your chapter’s GuideStar profile. The next video “Find Your Benefits for Completing a GuideStar Record” outlines the benefits. Would you like to see every nonprofit organization in your state, county, or city? Well stay tuned for Video 4 which will demonstrate how you can get this information free. To find the video simply go to the website at http://www.grantlessons.wordpress.com and select the videos tab. Go to the bottom of the page where you will find this last video.
One thing that we are working for in our work at GrantLessons is sustainability. As the work of the Grants Committee continues over time it will grow and need additional members to assist in the work. One major element of the work is to find the potential funders. Our local chapter’s committee has developed a subcommittee called “Grants Development Subcommittee”. We started our work two weeks ago. We have three members and our chairman will join us periodically to see what we are up to. The first thing we did was to discuss our databases and where we can find information. We reviewed GuideStar, GrantStation and Foundation Directory Online.
But most of all we talked about the importance of having more than one person understand how to access and search the databases. This work can not be done in a silo! We plan to share our progress over the next few months. For now, the new members to this subcommittee are poking around in the databases to see if they know how to access them and search for information. You do not need to pay to search on GuideStar but you do need to establish an account. GrantStation and Foundation Directory Online do require subscriptions to examine them in depth but you can see how they work in the demonstration material that is on their websites at http://www.grantstation.com and https://fconline.foundationcenter.org/.
The Spring cleaning is coming along and it is great to have something to do in the house when it is near 100 outside. Just hope the electricity stays on. 😉
Catch me when you can and I will catch up with you soon.
